I am an American with the ordinary problems stemming from the Standard American Diet: lots of weight to lose, a bout with high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and other issues. I
discovered raw in 2006 and saw it as a true miracle due to the wonderful health improvements I experienced. But I've had problems sticking to a raw diet- mainly because I'm still drawn to the unhealthy stuff! Other challenges include the food prep, storage, and the rising cost of produce.
2009 has thrown me a new challenge: a severe thyroid problem that is making life in general more of a challenge.
Despite my various challenges I'm still completely sold on a whole - and mostly raw- foods diet. I'm still willing to explore until I find a diet that works for me. Every year I learn something new about raw foods, nutrition, and the raw food community. 2009 proves to be another interesting year in my ongoing Raw Odyssey, as I get into subsistence farming and learn how to make my raw diet environmentally healthier and cheaper.
